2021 CIK Calendar released

With the world focused on the start of the 2020 season, the CIK have jumped the gun and released their 2021 calendar, with a few new circuits gracing the calendar.

For the second season in a row, the OK and OKJ championship will kick off at Zuera, Spain with Genk and Sarno remaining on the calendar for 2021. The fourth circuit sees the CIK paddock make a return to Aunay-Les-Bois, better known as Essay, France.

The KZ and KZ2 classes will again run over just 2 rounds compared to the OK and OKJ’s 4. Their season will kick off at Lonato, the venue for this year’s world championship before heading to Germany, but not to Wackersdorf. Instead, the KZ and KZ2 paddock will race at Mulsen. Considering the Mulsen circuit has only been open for around a year, this pretty impressive.

Joining the KZ and KZ2 classes will be the FIA Karting Academy Trophy series, which will run over 3 rounds. The 3rd round will be at the KZ and KZ2 World Championships, which will be in Kristianstad, Sweden.

Thinking of World Championships, the OK and OKJ has been confirmed for Brazil for 2021. The event is again due to be held at the Birigui Kartódromo, which was due to hold the 2020 edition before the Coronavirus pandemic.
